The Nature of Oaks beautifully communicates Dr Tallamy's love of this royalty of the plant kingdom. Join him on a year-long journey exploring the ecosystem that oaks support. On this journey, you will explore the organisms living in the top branches all the way down to the leaf litter.
The second time I read this book, I read one chapter a month aligning it with the month of the year. Both readings were enjoyable, but in the second reading I felt like I was on a year-long journey with this outstanding entomologist.
Living in Louisiana, it is easy to forget how fortunate we are to live surrounded by so many trees in the Oak Family: Live Oak, Nuttall, Shumard, Willow, White, Overcup, Swamp Chestnut, Blackjack, Bur, Cherrybark, Post, Southern Red, Water, Laurel, Bluejack, Shingle, Black, Turkey, just to name a few!
This book is available for check out at the following Lafayette Parish Branches: Main, South Regional, and West Regional.
