Last year I stumbled upon the Native Plants, Healthy Planet podcast to which I’ve been listening for months now. Hosts Fran Chismar and Tom Knezick broadcast most episodes from Pinelands Nursery, their native plant business located about 20 miles south of Trenton, New Jersey. Despite the distant location, ecological gardeners here would learn a great deal from the interesting and knowledgeable guests Fran and Tom interview on their show. Topics covered about native plants include ecological gardening, creating wildlife habitat, restoration, and conservation.
A few of my favorite interview guests on the podcast are Sam Hoadley (Mt. Cuba Center), Heather Holm (Native Bees and Wasps), Preston Montague (Ecological Landscapes), Rebecca McMackin (Ted Talk, Neko Case), Summer Rayne Oakes (Activist, Author), Todd Bittner (Cornell Botanic Gardens), Edwina von Gal (Perfect Earth Project), Patrick Cullina (Ecological Gardening in Public Spaces), Dr. Jared Barnes (Gardening Trends), Ethan Tapper (How to Love a Forest), Sam Droege (Native Bee Inventory), Dwayne Estes (Southeastern Grasslands Initiative), and Basil Camu (From Wasteland to Wonder).
Listen to the podcast on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or online at bleav.com/shows/native-plants-healthy-planet/ You won’t be disappointed.
