Native Plant Advocate of the Month: Monica Bryan

ree

Monica Bryan is the current ANPP President. She is a lifetime nature enthusiast, beginning with her years as a girl scout in Texas. She became a science educator and focused on environmental science and biology for many years. She also volunteered with the Acadiana Nature Station, and later became a Master Naturalist. She has been on the board with Bayou Vermilion Preservation Association (BVPA) for the last several years. Through her work with BVPA she came to more fully appreciate the value of native plants and their benefit to our watershed and the ecosystem. This led her to volunteer and later become a board member and now president of ANPP. Tuesday morning propagation in Arnaudville is one of her favorite activities. “I love learning and sharing about the importance of native plants, particularly with future generations including my grandchildren!” She also enjoys swimming, time with family and traveling. Whether working, traveling or volunteering her connection to nature has been lifelong.
