Native Plant Advocate of the Month: L.J. Delcambre

ree

Louisiana native, L.J. Delcambre, 5th generation from Vermilion Parish has always had a passion for gardening, plants and plant propagation. After retiring, he decided to start a nursery, Cajun Native Plants, specializing in local ecotype native plant species and working to restore the ecological impact of native plants, a vital. element of the ecosystem. The mission is to make available native plants as much as possible. These days you can find L.J. outdoors, using his green thumb, propagating seeds, starting plants and studying plant characteristics in the native garden. He designs pollinator beds and is always willing to share the knowledge of native plants. L.J. was the first in Vermilion Parish to acquire a Gold, Louisiana Certified Habitat and works with ANPP certifying new habitats. He is a Certified Master Naturalist, Master Gardener, and ANPP UL Ecology propagation volunteer. Recently he completed the training and became a Certified Louisiana Native Professional.
