Dave Patton (pictured here with his newly constructed chimney swift chimney) is a nature lover and avid birder. He is a native and lifelong resident of Lafayette. Dave and his wife Sue have two sons: Evan and family live in Orlando and Kyle resides in Lafayette. Dave graduated from the University of Southwestern Louisiana in 1974 with a B.S. in Geography.
Dave has served as a board member and past president of the Louisiana Ornithological Society. Since 2008, Dave has served as a board member of the Baton Rouge Audubon Society (BRAS) and manager of BRAS’s Peveto Woods Migratory Bird Sanctuary, which is located in Cameron Parish. “I have always loved nature and spent many years focusing on birds. I shifted my focus to insects and plants a few years ago, and now spend much of my time in my native garden. I joined ANPP two years ago, and enjoy helping and learning on work days at the UL-Lafayette Ecology Center and the Arnaudville greenhouse.” Currently, Dave serves on the ANPP Board of Directors. He also is working to expand the capacity of the June Walker Memorial greenhouse by helping to install new plumbing and electrical lines, restoring Teche Woods, and maintaining the nature trail there. He is also one of the regular Sunday volunteers at ANPP's prairie propagation workday at the UL Ecology Center. Thank you for everything, Dave!
