Tyler Darbonne and Elise Constantin - Gold Louisiana Certified Habitat

ANPP congratulates Tyler Darbonne and Elise Constantin of Lafayette for their gold-certified

habitat. Elise and Tyler have been in their home for 5 years. Elise got really interested in

native plants after attending ANPP 's Nature Walk at Moncus Park. Her mother took her to

one of Dr Charles Allen's edible plant classes for her birthday, and she took home a lot of

plants from Allen Acres on that visit. She was even more inspired during the LCH native

garden tours organized by ANPP and got some recommendations from Bill Fontenot, which

led her to DIY her own native gardening project in their shady yard on a coulee. Last year

the lot next door came up for sale, and they bought it, and removed most of the fence

between their original yard and the new one. This expanded their yard to twice the size it

was. They really love the three mature live oaks on the property. With the fence gone, they

can better manage yard flooding in heavy rains. They have planted river oats as one step in

this process. Now Elise is reading Doug Tallamy's books and spreading the word!

Thanks for Greauxing Native, Tyler and Elise!
