Paul Conover - Silver Louisiana Certified Habitat

Congratulations to Paul Conover on his silver certification for a green oasis in the

heart of Lafayette. Paul wrote that his introduction to native plants began when he

worked with ecologists Bill Vermillion and Bill Fontenot. In addition, he is a self-

confessed bird freak biologist. He brought his interests together to create a green

space for wildlife. His bird list currently has 191 species for the yard. The site is a

corner lot in an old Lafayette neighborhood with a good canopy of live oaks.

Some natives were present, some arrived naturally, and others have been

planted. Wildlife is definitely encouraged in this urban oasis.
