Danny Barnhill - Silver Louisiana Certified Habitat

Congratulations to Danny Barnhill for achieving Silver Level Certified Habitat on his seven acre rural property in St. Landry Parish.

Danny has owned the property for over 40 years, maintaining the shady natural woodland and sunny prairie and adding a 1/3 acre pond for wetland habitat.  The property supports many native species of mature trees, shrubs, vines and prairie grasses and perennials.  Over the last several years, he began converting the landscape around his home to native species, including foundation plantings and a meditation and sculpture garden.  He plans to increase diversity by introducing more natives that will thrive in this mixed habitat and attract more wildlife.
