Dana Topham - Silver Louisiana Certified Habitat

ree

ANPP congratulates Dana Topham for achieving a silver-certified habitat. Dana

Topham and family reside on 4 acres in the center of Lafayette along the

Vermilion river. The property has several cypress, oaks, and gum trees just to

name a few. The Tophams have worked on developing the property for over 10

years. Dana met with LJ Delcambre of Cajun Native Plants to discuss what it

would take to replace the conventional plants with natives. They discussed the

benefits of natives and decided on the selection and design of over 300 native

plants (first planting) were installed in the three poolside beds. Second planting

was the two entrance beds, and surrounding stone wall beds. The native plants

are thriving and add a natural feel of peace and tranquility. There is already an

increase of butterflies and insects. Plans are in the making to plant additional

beds in the spring.

Thanks for Greauxing Native, Dana!
