Tommy Rozas - Gold Level Louisiana Certified Habitat - Acadia Parish

Congratulations to Tommy Rozas for having his property in rural Acadia Parish

located near the community of Church Point Gold Certified. The original site was

acquired in 2024; an additional parcel, which was mostly forested, was purchased

later, bringing the total area to 24 acres. The original purchase also contained a 1-

acre pond, which serves as Largemouth Bass and Bluegill habitat as well as

wetland habitat for turtles, water snakes, wading birds, and Wood Ducks.

Approximately 10 acres of the property is forested. Since purchasing the property,

Tommy has undertaken major projects of reforestation and invasive species

management. Thus far over the last two years, he has removed hundreds of

Chinese Tallow trees and Ligustrum spp. from the property. In addition, Tommy

planted about 200 tree seedlings in 2025 and well over 400 tree and shrub

seedlings this year to convert much of the lawn to forest. Most of these seedlings

were purchased from the Gulf Coast Soil and Water Conservation District in Lake

Charles and the Acadiana Native Plant Project or obtained from plant giveaways

by the Louisiana Arboretum at Chicot State Park and the Barataria Terrebonne

National Estuary Program.

Thank you Tommy for Geauxing Native.
