Teche Farm Expansion - September 2024 Update

Writer's picture: ANPP VolunteersANPP Volunteers

Construction of the covered potting shed is almost complete!! Over the last few weeks, potting shed framework was erected and its roof was installed; crushed concrete was spread over the grounds of the expansion site, including the full sun growing area, new mist house, and more parking spaces. This project was accomplished just before the rain started.  Thanks to Steve and Rachel Courville for planning with our volunteers and directing the work, and carpenters from Accessibility by Design Inc, Phil and Franklin. L&L Dirt Services acquired the materials and did the groundwork. Once again kudos to our own master electrician and reluctant plumber, Randy Moshier and an outstanding team of volunteers, Paul, Lawrence, Eli, Wendell, and Dave.  Thanks to the ANPP Board for their flexibility in approving changes that improved our original project plan. The next step is to lay the ground cloth and then WE MOVE IN!!! We continue to implement the master plan designed by landscape architects Hayden and Joni Hammons that includes a nature trail through the woods behind the greenhouse. The trail was cleared and is maintained by another outstanding crew, Phyllis, Dave, Karen S., and Lawrence.  We continue to plant more native forest and understory species to increase diversity among the existing mature pines and oaks of this ridge along the Bayou. Come and volunteer!
