Renee Brown - GOLD Level Louisiana Certified Habitat - Abbeville

ANPP congratulates Renee Brown of Abbeville in Vermilion Parish for her gold certified habitat! It was a VERY SPECIAL certification: ANPP's 200th since the program began in 2020.

Renee's nearly 2-acre property is the former Linwood Plantation in the middle of town. Its previous owner was a Master Gardener. It includes a healthy 1/4 acre pond, a historic registered live oak, a thriving herb garden, and more and more natives, thanks to her "grounds conservatoire" Zackery Deshotels, a certified Louisiana Native Professional. Over the past few years, Zack has removed many invasives and added numerous natives, including mayhaws, buttonbush, buckeyes, and numerous wildflowers like rosinweed, germander, clustered mountain mint, purple coneflower, Stokes aster, aquatic milkweed, and many native mallows and irises. Renee also keeps manglier, mamou, and elderberry and many other medicinal plants handy. She has gotten many of her plants from ANPP, festivals, and The Urban Naturalist.

Thank you for greauxing native, Renee!
