Congratulations to Randy Aymond for having his property, which is located in rural St. Landry Parish near Sunset, Gold Certified. When Randy purchased the 6.5 acres in 2015, it was completely wooded, and no one had resided there for 100 years. Upon first seeing the site, Randy says he “felt as though he belonged there”. His property is also of historical significance, as it is the site of the Civil War Battle of Bayou Bourbeaux. Randy’s goal is to build a home and create his retirement space on the property. He already has a vegetable garden and a small plant nursery, which he plans to expand in the future, on the property.
Since purchasing this property, Randy has cleared out thickets of woody vegetation around many of the large canopy trees, which include Water Oak, Live Oak, American Elm, Sweetgum, and Black Cherry. He has also implemented a plan to manage invasive species, such as Chinese Privet, Chinese Tallow, and Camphor Tree. As he removes invasive species, Randy is replacing them with native plants, many of which he has moved from other places on the site. He also has purchased plants from Tech Gardens in Arnaudville where he volunteers as a member of the ANPP Propagation Team.
Thank you Randy for Greauxing Native.
