Rachel Courville - Silver Louisiana Certified Habitat

ANPP congratulates Rachel Courville for her silver-certified habitat in Lafayette.

A few years ago, Rachel made the decision to diversify the conventional landscaping in her

traditional subdivision to something more beneficial for nature. With help from hubby Steve

and daughter-in-law Kelsey, she put in a large bed using a landscape plan produced for

Wild Ones by ANPP past president Dona Weifenbach. https://nativegardendesigns.

wildones.org/designs/lafayette/. This large, prominent native garden now graces their front

yard on a busy street that sees lots of traffic. They kept the majestic magnolias, oaks, and

cypresses. In the backyard they have put in several native beds, including some in shady

wet spots that are now devoted to native ferns. Beds for Louisiana irises, butterflies and

other pollinators surround their large backyard and pool.

Thanks for Greauxing Native, Rachel!
