Bill Hays and Deedy Young - Bronze Level Louisiana Certified Habitat - Lafayette

ANPP congratulates Bill Hays and Deedy Young for a certified bronze habitat in Lafayette!

Using Zack at Greaux Cajuns as a resource, Bill and Deedy dedicated a space for plants native to Louisiana in their garden. Deedy regularly goes out to note the progress of the natives planted there and takes pleasure following their growth and observing the changes. Bill and Deedy also find it gratifying to play a role in providing a place where native plants are attended to and enjoyed. Deedy writes, "In addition, we will have the opportunity to observe the life cycle they move through: their growth into maturity, creating more of their species; their stillness in winter months; and their return to growth in spring as the cycle starts again. At the same time, we may sense deep satisfaction, for we are also making a place in our own busy lives for our older and deeper nature to be expressed."
