ANPP Assistance Program

You are invited to submit a proposal that ANPP can support for a project that advances ANPP’s mission and lowers barriers to participation, including but not limited to:

Demonstration:

  • Native plants for pollinator gardens, prairies, wetlands, woodlands, or seedling nurseries at public spaces like schools, parks, libraries, and churches.

  • Assistance with designing an entry landscape for a neighborhood or subdivision. This can include guidance for landscape design or registration for our Yard2Habitat workshop.

  • Subsidies and assistance with applications for the Louisiana Certified Habitat program for your school or neighborhood.

Education:

  • K-12 educational programming or curriculum development related to native plants and habitat.

  • Internships for individuals completing special projects like producing signage or media.

  • Guidance to do service research for schoolwork (e.g., science fair).

  • Assistance with developing seedling nurseries at schools.

  • Extracurricular youth projects and activities such as citizen science and Scout or 4H projects

Propagation:

  • Plant material and consulting for commercial startup or expansion of capacity for native plant propagation.

There are no deadlines. Awards are non-monetary, but typically have a monetary value of $100-$500 in plants, other materials, and services; especially promising projects may have a higher monetary value.

Initiate the application process by sending an email to mail@greauxnative.org with the following information:

  • What, when and where will your project be?

  • Which aspect(s) of ANPP’s mission will your project extend?

  • What are you asking ANPP for: Plants, seeds, training, advice, signage? Be very specific (species, numbers, etc).

  • What is the total estimated value of your request? Estimate the total retail value of plants using our inventory and non-member prices and number of consultation hours requested from ANPP.

  • How can barriers be minimized and the project sustained over time?

  • How will others learn about your project (Participation and publicity plans)?

  • The name of the person in charge and their phone contact number.

You and an ANPP representative will then discuss your project to determine whether it is suitable for the program. More complex projects may require more detail than described above. A final report will be submitted to ANPP upon completion of your project specifying how the ANPP assistance was used. This final report will be written to inform and inspire native plant enthusiasts in a ready-to-share format that can be uploaded to the ANPP website.

Proposals from current ANPP volunteers and members and habitat-impoverished areas will receive priority consideration. Individuals and organizations provided with ANPP assistance in the past must have submitted a satisfactory final report to be considered eligible for additional assistance. Careful use of ANPP assistance honors the generosity of our volunteers and members.
